Unusual October Evening at Johnson’s Beach (Diptych, 12x24)
What’s so unusual about this scene, you may wonder? Does anyone remember the unusually warm October days we had in 2023? After coming home from our activities one day during the first week of October, my family decided it was a perfect day to visit the beach! The kids rounded up their friends, and upon arriving, we saw others had the same idea as we did. Rightly so, the temperature showed it was 34 degrees Celsius!
I was energized by the sights and sounds of beach activity. Families laughing and splashing, ducks quacking and flapping, radios humming, kids carving out sand castles, and the occasional warm breeze issuing in the magnificent sunset over the water. As the golden glow faded over the horizon, the crowd also dispersed and counted down until the next beach day.
Drawing upon this memory, I wanted to bring out my appreciation for living in this region, and being able to enjoy an impromptu evening taking in the sometimes unpredictable traces of the lingering summer warmth.
