Summer Moonlit Bonfire

Summer Moonlit Bonfire (16x20)

This 16x20 painting is inspired by watching my younger son’s fascination with our firepit in the backyard, as he pokes a stick into the ashes to see the embers glowing.  I enjoyed watching the light and shadows of the dancing flames reflecting the warm glow.  I was motivated to capture the way the light (fire and moonlight) illuminates and reflects on various surfaces, and recreate the movement of the smoke over the pit.
